.Shards of Glass Cupcakes.

Shards of Glass Cupcakes Halloween Recipe

.Ingredients.
24 cupcakes (any kind), frosted (with canned or homemade frosting)

Sugar Glass:
Nonstick spray
2 cups water
3 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Blood:
14.5 oz can of dark cherries in water (water, not syrup)
1/4 cup superfine sugar (you can find this in the baking aisle)
1/2 teaspoon lime juice
1 Tablespoon cornstarch

.Instructions.
To Make the Glass:
1. Line a large cookie sheet with foil and spray with nonstick spray. You want to spray the pan at least 30 minutes prior to using it.

2. Mix together the water, sugar, corn syrup and cream of tartar in an old saucepan and bring to a boil with a candy thermometer inserted. Let the mixture boil, stirring continuously, until it reaches 300 F. Pour the mixture very quickly and carefully into the lined and oiled pan and let cool.

3. When the mixture has cooled completely, carefully pop it out of the pan and peel off the foil. Tap it in the center with a hammer or meat mallet to crack it into shards.

To Make the Blood:
1. Pour the can of cherries (with juice) in a food processor or blender and mix just enough for the cherries to be mostly broken up but not completely smooth. Pour the cherry mixture with the rest of the blood ingredients into a heavy saucepan and heat on medium. Slowly bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

2. Reduce to a simmer and heat until the cherry mixture has thickened. Allow to cool.

3. Spoon a blob of “blood” on the center of each cupcake. Dip an edge of a “glass shard” into the blood and insert in the center of the blood.

.Skeleton Cupcakes.

Skeleton Cupcakes Halloween Recipe

.Ingredients.
baked and frosted cupcakes (reserve a little extra frosting)
white chocolate covered pretzels
large marshmallows
lollipop sticks
food writer (or black icing)

.Instructions.
1. First bake some cupcakes. I used sprinkles on mine because I’m addicted to sprinkles. If you don’t share this addiction you can leave them off.

2. Cut an inch or so off the stick so it’s not so long.

3. Flatten your marshmallow slightly and carefully press your stick into the flattened marshmallow.

4. Next using your food writer or black frosting make a skeleton face.

5. Now you need to make his bones, slide on the pretzels. Here’s where your extra frosting helps. It holds the pretzels in place. Now stick your arm-less skeleton into your cupcake.

6. So, he needs some arms, cut the top of some extra pretzels off. Do this carefully, otherwise the pretzels break. Now, with some more frosting carefully attach the arms.

.Witch Hats.

Toxic Brownies Halloween Recipe

Yield: 24 witch hats and 11 cupcakes.

.Ingredients.
24 ice cream sugar cones
1 package (18-1/4 ounces) yellow cake mix
1/2 cup chocolate frosting
24 chocolate wafers
1 can (16 ounces) vanilla frosting
1/4 teaspoon orange paste food coloring
12 green apple Jolly Rancher Chews, halved
Purple nonpareils

.Instructions.
1. Cover the top of a 10-in. fluted tube pan with a double layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Using a skewer or paring knife, poke 12 holes in the foil, making one hole in the center and eleven holes around it, about 2-1/2 in. apart. Gently insert a cone in each hole, leaving the top 1 in. of cone above the foil.

2. Prepare cake batter according to package directions. Spoon 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon batter into each cone. Bake at 350° for 14-16 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack.

3. Repeat with remaining cones and additional batter. Use remaining batter to bake cupcakes.

4. Spread 1 teaspoon chocolate frosting onto the center of each chocolate wafer. Top with cone, cake side down.

5. In a large bowl, beat vanilla frosting and food coloring. Cut a small hole in the tip of a pastry bag or in a corner of a food-safe plastic bag; insert a #45 round tip. Fill bag with orange frosting. Pipe around cone rims; attach candies for buckles. Frost cupcakes with remaining frosting; sprinkle with nonpareils.

.Dracula's Bite Cupcakes.

Dracula's Bite Cupcakes Halloween Sweets Recipe

.Ingredients.
one batch of red velvet cupcakes
handful of pomegranate seeds

For the cream-cheese frosting:
2 tablespoons (25g) butter, at room temperature
1⁄2 cup (125g) cream cheese, at room temperature
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1⁄4 cup (125g) confectioner's (icing) sugar

For the cherry sauce:
1 cup (125g) black cherries, very ripe
and de-stoned or canned
1⁄4 cup (50g) superfine (caster) sugar
1⁄2 cup (120ml) water or juice from the canned cherries, if using
1⁄2 teaspoon lime juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch (cornflour) or arrowroot

.Instructions.
1. To make the frosting, beat the softened butter in a small bowl. Add the cream cheese and blend together until there are no lumps. Add the vanilla extract and gradually beat in the sugar until you have a fairly thick, spreadable consistency. Ice the cupcakes using the back of a dessertspoon and give them a smooth finish.

2. To make the cherry sauce, blend the cherries in a bowl using an electric hand blender, then place in a medium-sized heavy-based pan with the sugar, water, lime juice, and cornstarch or arrowroot. Heat on medium until the cherries begin to release their liquid, and then slowly bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce to a simmer and heat until the cherry mixture has thickened to the desired consistency (runny enough to pipe but thick enough to prevent bleeding into the frosting). Allow to cool.

3. Fit a piping bag with a number 67 tip, then pour in the cherry pulp mixture. Insert the tip gently into the frosting to make "bite marks," and then spill the "blood" out over each cake. Dot the finished cakes with pomegranate seeds.

From Lily Vanilli's A Zombie Ate My Cupcake!

.Tips.
*Ideally, always decorate your cakes with ingredients that complement their flavor. These cream-cheese frosted red velvet cupcakes are topped with "blood" made from pulped black cherries and dotted with pomegranate seeds or redcurrants.
