.Spider Cake.

Spider Cake Halloween Recipe

.Ingredients.
Cake Mix (Box or Scratch, your choice)
orange food coloring (or red and yellow)
Chocolate frosting
white frosting
mini Oreo cookies

.Instructions.
1. Bake your cake and using some food coloring turn it orange. The cake in the photo was baked using a mini 4 inch pan (3 layers).

2. Chocolate frosting was used for the filling between the layers.

3. Cover in white frosting, (your choice on flavor or make your own buttercream).

4. Use leftover chocolate frosting to pipe on the spider web. A piping bag and a #4 decorating tip was used for the photo. You could certainly use a Ziplock bag and snip off the corner.

5. Extend the “web” down the side of the cake, pipe the spider legs longer than your cookie so the frosting can help hold the cookie spider body like glue.

6. With more leftover frosting, you can give the spiders some little eyes.

.Spider Cheeseball.

Spider Cheeseball Halloween Recipe

.Ingredients.
Cheeseball:
2 (8 oz) packages of cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 C shredded cheese blend (I used a mix of sharp, colby jack, and monterey cheddar)
3/4 C fresh shredded parmesan cheese
1/2 C mayonnaise
2 T garlic & onion chives, chopped (you could do green onions instead, but we had chives in the garden)
2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp garlic powder

Spider:
3–5 cans black olives (depending on cheeseball size & olive size)
wooden skewers (I used 4, each cut into smaller pieces)
pimento (for eyes)

.Instructions.
1. Blend together all the cheeses using a hand or stand mixer. Then, add in chives (or onions), seasonings, and mayo.

2. Once creamed together, shape into a spider (head & abdomen) onto a platter (I didn’t use all of it, because there was something else I wanted to try too).

3. Halve olives and begin covering the spider. Then begin construction on the legs.

4. For the legs, cut segments off a skewer (size determined by the size of your spider). Stick the cut skewer into the cheeseball (where the head and abdomen meet). Then, lace the olives onto the skewer (through their holes), leaving a little bit of the end of the skewer open. For the bottom part of the leg, lace the olives onto the skewer leaving the top part of the skewer open. To attach the two skewers, place one olive such that both skewers will stick into it (and connect). Repeat the process until the entire spider is complete.

5. For the eyes, slice an olive so that you have open rings. Inside each opening, place a pimento for some creepy red eyes!

1 cup dry breadcrumbs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 3-ounce mozzarella ball, divided
2 pitted black or green olives

.Instructions.
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9-inch round baking dish (I used a springform pan). Combine the meat, egg, onion, milk, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Empty mixture onto baking dish and shape into a dome.

2. Mix together ketchup and brown sugar in a small bowl. Spread mixture evenly over meatloaf.

3. Bake meatloaf for 1 hour. Let meatloaf rest for 20 minutes.

4. While meatloaf rests, cook and drain pappardelle or lasagna noodles according to package directions.

5. If using a springform pan, remove outer piece before placing pasta on meatloaf. If using other type of pan, remove meatloaf from pan and transfer to serving plate.

6. Slice mozzarella ball in half. Layer pasta strands over meatloaf to look like mummy’s wrappings, adding mozzarella circles about halfway throught the process. Cut a small piece off the bottom of each olive and place, flat side down, in the middle of each mozzarella “eye.”
